They are all invited to Nigger Island, an island that was very famous for people who like to read gossip magazines. The Island is located right outside the Devon coast, and is called Nigger Island cause the island is shaped like a head with the lips of a Negro. They all arrive on time but the weather is terrible and the women are a bit anxious about being on the Island since theres a storm coming. When they get to the Island, they find out that their host and hostess are delayed. They arent alone on the Island. The Owens has hired two servants, Mr and Mrs Rogers. Including them, they are ten people. Mr and Mrs Rogers serve a fantastic dinner, and serve them drinks afterwards. While Mr Rogers serves them the drinks, they hear a mysterious voice. The voice accuses every one of them of a terrible crime: MURDER!Mrs Rogers fainted of the shock. They tried to find out where the voice came from, and discovered that its a gramophone put up against the wall in the adjoining room. They are all very upset, and thats why no one thinks its a murder when Anthony Marston dies just a few minutes later. He choked of his drink, said the doctor, then he gave Mrs Roger a sleeping drug and sent her to bed. Thats how the terrible story began. The others sat up late discussing the mystery about all this. First the very vague invitation, then the voice and their missing host and hostess. They also discuss the letters, and discover that there are different senders. The sender is always a U.N. Owen = unknown. And why the shower curtains were missing. Early next morning Dr Armstrong woke up by someone knocking on his door. It was Mr Rogers, something was wrong with his wife. He couldnt wake her. When Dr Armstrong takes a look at her, he sees that shes dead. Probably heart failure, he cant know for sure without his medical instruments. Thats why nobody thinks the second death is a murder. But when General Macarthur dies from a hard hit in the back of his head while hes sitting on the beach, they start to wonder. After discussing the evidence, (as Judge Wargrave calls it) they come to the conclusion, that Mr unknown is one of them. The weather is so bad that no one could be able to get out to the island. Not even the daily boat with groceries came. The next on the list was Mr Rogers. He was out chopping wood for the fireplace when someone almost cut his head of with an axe. The men found him a few hours later, when they wondered why he hadnt woken them up. Suddenly Vera remembered something: The old nursery jingle. Ten little nigger boys went out to dine; One choked his little self and then there were nine. Nine little nigger boys sat up very late; One overslept himself and then there were eight. Eight little nigger boys travelling in Devon; One said hed stay there and then there were seven. Seven little nigger boys chopping up sticks; One chopped himself in halves and then there were six. Six little nigger boys playing with a hive;A bumblebee stung one and then there were five. Five little nigger boys going in for law;One got into Chancery and then there were four. .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a , .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a .postImageUrl , .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a , .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a:hover , .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a:visited , .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a:active { border:0!important; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a:active , .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ua4ddc2e2e83dab4914d45710262fa28a:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Marijuana Persuasive EssayFour little nigger boys going out to sea;A red herring swallowed one and then there were three. Three little nigger boys walking in the zoo;A big bear hugged one and then there were two. Two little nigger boys sitting in the sun;One got frizzled up and then there was one. One little nigger boy left all alone; He went and hanged himself and there were none. My God, he was killing by the jingle! Anthony Marston choked, Mrs Rogers overslept, General Macarthur stayed on the coast of Devon and Mr Rogers was chopping up sticks. Another weird thing is the tray with the adornment little nigger boys, in the dining room. After each death theres one missing. And no one notices until after the second death. The fifth to be killed was Miss Emily Brent. She was sitting alone in the dining room, when the killer struck. She was half-asleep from a sleeping drug, which the killer had slipped into her coffee, when she was killed with a cyanide injection. Vera came to fetch her, but when she heard a bumblebee buzzing, she knew what had happened. Now there were only five of them left. I guess theres no need to say that the atmosphere was very tensed and they were all very frightened. Vera went to bed early that night, and no one had to tell her to lock her door carefully. The men remained downstairs talking. They were trying to figure out how they all could be lured into this mess. Philip Lombard had been asked to come to protect Mrs Unknown jewellery, he had even brought a gun. While they were talking Vera went into her room, but suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder. She screamed and in a second or two, the men broke into her room. They turned on the lights, and discovered that the hand was seaweed hanging from the ceiling, but something else was wrong. Someone was missingthe Judge. When they got to the living room he was sitting in a chair, with a judge wig and robe. It was Emilys missing yarn and the shower curtain. He was dead, shot in the head, probably with Mr Lombards gun. Mr Lombard, was now a suspect. So they put all lethal weapons and drugs into a bo x with a lock on it, and then put the box in a chest that also had a lock on it. They gave one key to Mr Lombard, and the other one to Mr Blore. So if someone wanted to open the boxes they had to have both keys. That night Vera went to bed feeling a bit safer. She thought the boat would come in the morning, and with all dangerous weapons locked up, they would survive the nightno doubt. Mr Blore was determined not to fall asleep. So he lay on his bed waiting for something to happen. And his waiting paid of. Around half past two, he heard footsteps outside his door. He sprung to his feet; noiseless he opened the door, just in time to see doctor Armstrong walk out the front door. He went to fetch Lombard and together they searched for Dr Armstrong. When the morning came, the two men were sure that Dr Armstrong was the killer. They woke Vera up and told her what had happened during the night. The Island was very small and bare, so theres no place to hide except or the house. They figured that there was nothing left to do, so they went down to the bridge and waited for the boat. They knew who the killer was, they had searched the whole island last night without finding him and Lombard had his gun with him. It was finally overthey thought. In good faith, Mr Blore went up to the house to get them something to eat. After a while Vera and Lombard wondered were he were, and went up to the house to look for him. They found him dead, hit in the head by a stone statue formed as a bear. The statue had fallen from the window above. Now they knew who the killer was. It was Dr Armstrong and this proved that he was still alive. Vera and Lombard went for a walk on the cliffs, they figured they would be safer there. Because there they could se him coming long before he could get to them. Suddenly Vera saw something in the water. It was stuck between two rocks. They went down to look at it and when they got closer they realised it was a human body. They pulled up the body and when they saw whom it was Lombard pulled his gun. It was Dr Armstrong! With only two people alive on the island they knew that it had to be one of them. Vera insisted that they should lay Armstrongs body over the high tide mark. The body was heavy, and while Lombard was busy with the body Vera stole his gun. They struggled with the gun for a few minutes and suddenly the gun went off. Lombard fell dead to the ground. Vera went up to the house. In every guestroom she saw a dead body on the bed: first Anthony Marston, then Mrs Rogers, General Macarthur, Mr Rogers, Miss Brent and Judge Wargrave. She felt very tired, though she hadnt eaten any thing all she could think of was to go to sleep. She went into her room. In the middle of the room there was a noose hanging from the roof with a chair under. She climbed up the chair a put the noose around her neck like she was in a trance. Then she kicked the chair away. .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 , .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 .postImageUrl , .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 , .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919:hover , .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919:visited , .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919:active { border:0!important; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919:active , .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919 .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u1f31691a8d4fb0de12ef8e48f1f8b919:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Themes of the American Dream, Racism, and White Privilege in Between the World and Me, a Novel by Ta-Nehisi Coates EssayPeople on shore had been told that there was going to be a test on the island, to see how people react when they are marooned on an island for a week. Thats why the boat didnt come. But after a few days they started to wonder. When the boat got there, all they found were dead bodies and the worst crime mystery England ever seen. They knew the order of the crimes, cause Vera had written a diary and they knew the time of death of Lombard. The rest they could figure out. Vera hanged herself, but normally the chair would lie on the floor, but it was neatl y put upright in a corner. And the gun lying in the hallway. The police were puzzled but everything solved when a fisherman found a message in a bottle. The Judge, Mr Justice Wargrave, had written the message. This is the content of the letter:He was the murderer, and the reason that he killed all those people was because ha had always felt a need for killing. But he also had a strong sense of whats right and whats wrong. And one day when he was talking to his colleagues they discussed that there must be a lot of crimes that the law cant touch. Crimes like death help and car accidents often cant be proved. In his mind he came up with a plan. A plan that would help him convict murderers. He loured nine people to the island including him they would be ten. Finding the people wasnt very hard. He asked people hed met a few questions, and without knowing it people told him exactly what he wanted to know. He chose the Nigger Island cause the name fitted with the old nursery jingle he had learned at school as a child. Slipping cyanide in Tony Marstons drink wasnt difficult, cause at that time no one suspected murder, same thing with Mrs Rog ers. General Macarthur was also an easy target while he was sitting alone on the beach. Everyone was asleep when he killed Mr Rogers and Miss Brent wasnt suspecting anything when he put sugar in her coffee. And by the time he gave her the lethal dose of cyanide, she was to affected by the drug to notice him. He engineered his own death with the help of Dr Armstrong. He told him that he knew a way to find out who the murder was. They would convince the others that he was dead so he could snoop around without anyone knowing. All the doctor had to do was to say that he was dead, and ketchup did the trick with the bullet hole. He told the Doctor that he wanted to meet him on the cliffs later. When the good doctor came, he was pushed into the ocean. No one could she him when he threw the bear of stone at Blore. Vera took care of Lombard and herself. All he had to do was to put the chair back, and then take his own life. And he built some kind of catapult to throw the gun into the hallway after he had taken his own life. But first, he wrote this letter. My notes:Theres really not much to write about the characters, because Agatha hasnt written much about them. Just their actions and reactions, not much about their appearances. I think that her main reason about the book was just to entertain people, to give us something scary to read. The book is realistic but it in the same time its not. I wouldnt be surprised if some maniac really did something like his, not in Sweden though. Agatha Christie has written the book from an observers point of view. But she also get individual sometimes, you know what Veras thinking when she writes in her diary and so on. The book is written in old-fashioned everyday English speech. For example: Fancy a drink ehh?My thoughts about the book:I liked the book but I dont think its one of her best. Ive read quite a few but I liked the other ones better. I cant say that the novel has effected me, not like On the beach. After that book I started o think about world peace and things like that, but as I said this isnt likely to happen in Sweden. I dont know what else to say, I liked the book, it didnt affect me in any special way and I cant recognise their feelings in my own life. Agatha ChristieAgatha Christie is famous throughout the world. She has written 78 crime novels, 19 plays and 6 novels written under the name of Mary Westmacott. Her books have sold billions of copies in English and another billion in 44 other languages. Her last published book, sleeping murder, was published in 1976. Staring: Miss Marple, one of two persons that she often used in her books. The other one is Hercule Poirot. Hercule was a detective and Miss Marple was an old lady who kept her eyes open and had a sense for details. They always solved their murders. She was born in Torquay, and were married to Sir Max Mallowan, archaeologist.

Malcolm knowles Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Malcolm knowles - Assignment Example In one of his books, Platon’s Educational Ideas, Kapp highlights the necessity for lifelong learning. Kapp argues that education, educating the character and self reflection of the character are the first essentials in human life. He analyzes the education of an individual and combines the inner personality character and the outer objective competencies, deriving a conclusion that learning occurs not only through teachers but also through life experiences and self reflection. Later in 1920’s, the theory found its roots through a group of scholars from Germany. Their idea was sophisticated and theory-oriented and was not extensively shared thus it was forgotten. The 1950’s saw the emergence of publication of Andragogy in Germany, Netherlands, Yugoslavia and Switzerland. The application of the theory was still known to insiders. The theory gained global recognition in 1960’s by the influence of Malcolm Knowles. Knowles published this theory in 1968 under the title â€Å"Andragogy, not Pedagogy†. The theory became widely known and was applied majorly for adult education (Melick, Richard & Shera 112). The andragogic model as formulated by Knowles highlights five issues that need to be considered and addressed by formal educators. First, the learning candidate should be informed of the importance of learning and why. This assumption (or principle) does not emphasize on the reasons why the students/ learners are in the classroom but rather on the importance of each item they are taught when in the classroom. Secondly, the learners should be shown how to guide and direct themselves through information. This includes respecting the learning styles of the candidates. There are generally three learning styles; visual, kinetic and auditory. Visual learners rely mostly on pictures. They understand the education topic much better by use of illustrations, graphs and diagrams and adapt

Australian Women Workforce Participation and Childcare from birth to 5 Essay

Australian Women Workforce Participation and Childcare from birth to 5 - Essay Example Formerly developing from feminine labor movements in North America & Europe, female involvement in politics and the labor force provides a great emphasis of IWD (Council of Australian Governments, 2013). The literature review seeks to review current female participation in the Australian workforce. The paper will include peer reviewed studies and an exploration of the popular and the critical view of the topic. This paper further explores the steps by the authorities to support the Australian women in the workforce. The rate of Australian women’s participation in the workforce has increased rapidly in recent years (Baxter, Renda, & Australian Institute of Family Studies, 2011). Research indicates that women, especially expectant mothers and those with children up to the years of five have had various experiences in regards to working and childcare (Boyd, Walker, & Thorpe, 2013). Many women have found it difficult to work while having small children needing childcare (Broderick, 2012). The difficulties led to parental leaves for expectant mothers in order to have ample time to take care of their children (Walters, & Whitehouse, 2012; Adams, & Security4Women, 2010). Research further adds that women required the government to cater for paid parental leaves and childcare costs instead of the mothers having to leave their work to take care of the children (Cooklin, Rowe, & Fisher, 2012). The government initiated the Paid Parental Leave (PPL) and child care costs programs meant to support work ing women while on maternal leaves raising the children following the recommended health and nutrition standards. Unfortunately, not all women benefit from these programs (ONeill & Johns, 2009). Research also adds that women’s participation in the workforce is not only a barrier to appropriate childcare but also an obstacle to family care

Competitive advantage of Firms in Global Industry

Competitive advantage of Firms in Global Industry THE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE OF FIRMS IN GLOBAL INDUSTRY Introduction First and foremost, the important aspect to note and to discuss is the creation and sustainability of competitive advantage of multinational enterprise in the Global world and how strategies formed by each firm contributes to competitive advantage. Strategic competition An industry regardless is a combination of group of competing companies providing services or products that compete directly with each other. Products are encircled by strategically oriented industries especially if they have similarities in competitive advantage. The industries who share the same consumers, technologies, production channels, and etc. have their distinct way of competitive advantage requirements. Multinational enterprise competition is either won or lost depending on how successful their strategic competitive advantage favors them. The industry is an open avenue where multinational enterprise can compete with each other. Firms use competitive advantages to sustain and maximize profit for themselves although, there is no best competitive advantage but only the strategic means that is in favor of the firm succeeds. There are two major aspects to be considered while choosing a firms competitive advantage. The structure of the industry where the firm competes. The industrial competitiveness differs to each other, so for sustainable profits, not all industries offer same opportunities. Positioning within an industry: competitive positioning is very important but some multinational enterprise in a highly attractive industry may still be in difficult situation and might not have earned satisfactory profits if it has not chosen the right competitive positioning. Changes in the structure or entry barrier of industry can influence the attractiveness of the industry. Analytical structure of industry There are five competitive forces that explain what multinational enterprises undergo in order to compete with each other in the industry. They are as follows: The threat of new entrants into the industry The threat of substitute products or services of another firm Suppliers bargaining power Buyers bargaining power Rivalry among the existing competitors The performance and the profitability of each multinational enterprise are determined by the strength of the above mentioned five forces. Many industries where by the five forces favors them performs profitably well with great invested capital returns such as soft drinks, database publishing, pharmaceuticals etc. Whereas, industries which experiences pressure from one or more of those five forces tends to struggle and few among the firms in the industry realize profitability for a long term. The five forces are the basic tools used in determining the profitability of the industry because the prices firms charge are controlled by these forces and likewise the cost they have to bear and above all the investment required to competing in the industry. for instance, when a new entrants surfaces, there would be limits to the overall profit potential in the industry due to the fact that new entrants would bring fresh capacity and would look for market share pulling down margins. Higher cost of competitiveness brings about more profits for example, advertising, sales expense or passing on profits to customers in form of lower prices. Competitors tend to lower the price they charge on of products due to the presence of close substitute products. The structure of the industrys function is determined by the strength of each competitive factor for instance, the extent at which an enterprises sales is at risk to any one buyer and the issue of price sensitivity. This is regarded as buying power. Multinational enterprise can use their strategy influence the five forces to raise barriers of entry for instance the introduction of computer information to airline industry has raised the entry barrier as any new enterprise would require investment in hundreds of millions of pounds. Industrial structure varies and are different to each other depending on the type of industry it is such as the pharmaceuticals where barriers of entry is very high and difficult to penetrate due to the need of huge fixed research and development costs and economies of scale in selling to physicians. Getting and developing a substitutes and effective to drugs is not an easy task. The structure of the industry creates differing requirement for success such as differing skills and resources in different industries. Furthermore, multinational enterprise must be structurally attractive in the industry with sustainable entry barriers such as technology, skills, channels access and reputation of brand/product. Factor that might affect competitive advantage of multinational enterprise is the standard of living which would depend of the capacity of the firm to penetrate structurally attractive industries. Structural change helps competitiveness and creates opportunities for competitors to penetrate new industries. Structural change creates avenue for competitors to penetrate industries. A good example is the American dominance of IBM and Xerox, the firm was challenged successfully by a Japanese copier company due to underserved product segment such as small copier, using a new approach to the consumers by using dealers instead of direct sales, mass production of goods and pricing approach was modified. This strategic approach reduced the entry barriers and had a negative implication on the previous leaders (American firm) advantages. Positioning within industries According to Porter, at the heart of positioning is competitive advantage therefore for multinational enterprise to achieve success, they must possess a sustainable competitive advantage the two types of competitive advantages by Porter are as follows: Lower cost: this means being able to design, produce and market similar product more efficiently than other competitors. For example the Korean steel and semiconductor firm was able to produce at a very low cost, using low-wage but highly productive labor force and a modernized process. Differentiation: the ability to maintain quality and unique and superior value to consumers. From: http://tutor2u.net/business/images/competitive_strategies.gif Competitive Advantage Creation Competitive advantage would be shifted by innovation if multinational enterprise fails to perceive a new way of competing or are not able to respond to competition. For e.g. the Swiss watch producers were unable to identify the competitive advantage of Timex an American company due to the fear of low quality production whereas the American Timex mass produced inexpensive disposable watch. Causes of competitive advantages are: New technologies: some multinational enterprises steeped in an old technological paradigm cannot cope with this New and shifting consumer needs: in order to meet the needs of consumers firms might need to adopt a new value chain which might be difficult for some firms. For example the American fast food firms were able to gain competitive advantage over local restaurants due to this. Shifting cost: firms may find it difficult to compete as cost of production changes. New entrant /new industry segment: Government regulation changes: government may change her regulation such as the standard required for each products. This might be a barrier for some firms to compete. Highlights of factors affecting multinational enterprises There are two major types of factors affecting multinational enterprise. Internal factors External factors Internal factors include: Political parties Suppliers Buyers Competitors Consumer of respective country External factors include: Political environment, Legal environment, Socio-cultural environment Demographic conditions of respective country FURTHER EXPLANATION ON THE PROBLEMS FACING MULTINATIONAL ENTERPRISE The supply chain of multinational companies can be made richer and promising, the cost of work force which is high could be changed or transformed and potential markets can be expanded. Furthermore, the advantage of multinational enterprise competition can be made stronger in a global market. Otherwise, some problems are met in the changed environments in foreign countries at the same time. The changed environments can be divided into four main parts, such as the following: Difference in culture Factors occurring in the environment Legal issues in environment Economic environment Political system issues All the changed environments make problems to multinational companies. In particular, problems which are caused by changed culture environment are the most serious aspect of running a multinational business. Cultural Competitive Advantage The norms and values of a country contribute to the cost and influence the cost of doing business in that country and likewise, the cost of doing business in a country enhances the strength of firms competitive advantage in an international market. For instance, the Hindu does not support capitalism as the ethics embedded in the Protestantism and the Confucianism furthermore, the Islamic laws disallowing interest payments mat raise the cost of doing business by constraining a countrys banking system. The example of Japans cultural influence of competitive advantage on international business cannot be over emphasized due to its ability to lower the cost of doing business such as group affiliation, loyalty, reciprocal obligations, honesty, and education which has contributed to the success of the countrys competitive advantage. In comparison of Japan and American firms, it has been argued that Japan is not in support of entrepreneur whereas the Americans are which has made it possible for the American firms to dominate companies that are in support of entrepreneurial activities such as biotechnology and computer software. Maintaining Economic Competitiveness Factor bestowal/benefaction As argued by Michael Porter, according to Heckscher-Ohlin theory, governments investment in education would go a long way to help the country by giving a good and proper education and skills to a larger population in the country. A good example is Japan, the secrete behind her success is the provision of quality education to a larger number of her population, which has tremendously maintained, contributed and helped her competitive advantage. Status of demand The status of home demand has a major role to play in the production of domestic products which enables firms to be innovative and aspire for quality. Japaneses quality camera production is due to the need for consumers demand. Complementing industries The existence of complementing industries would help the strength of its competitive advantage such as the Swedish steel industrys strong competitive advantage due to the production of fabricated steel like ball bearing and cutting tools. Adopted strategy, structure and firms rivals According to Michael Porter argument, the idea developed or employed by each country varies which might or might not help them maintain national economic competition. According to him, the Japanese and the German firms are being dominated by top engineers whereas in the USA, that with good financial background dominates the firms. He further argues that the USAs loss of power in the engineering dominated firms was due their adopted idea. Furthermore, rivals into the industry always bring about ways of improving production quality, cost reduction and innovative ideas which helps firms to compete internationally. Conclusion Michael Porter has very good competitive ideas which could help a firm to compete internationally. References: Richard M.S Wilson and Collingilligan A. Lord of the Rings: Two Towers vs. Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban Com

Lord of the Rings: Two Towers vs. Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban Comparison In the two novels, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban, by J.K. Rowling, there is a distinct relationship that is created through the idea that there are the chosen individuals are the only ones that can save the world. The first novel, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a novel generally focusing on uniting  ¡Ã‚ §Middle Earth ¡Ã‚ ¨, a term used to describe the human world, to defeat the enemy forces of evil controlled by a character described as pure evil named NAME. The actions of one small hobbit name Frodo Baggins, a race similar to humans, that will in fact determine the outcome of who is triumphant; not the actions of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers protecting the vast armies of Saruman. Although author ¡Ã‚ ¦s style is completely different, considering the novels were written in separate generations, you could find many comparisons when relating back to the idea of  ¡Ã‚ §good versus evil ¡Ã‚ ¨. In the second novel, Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban, there is a young boy named Harry Potter, whose parents were famous wizards but were allegedly murdered by an evil wizard named Sirius Black. His past is constantly being reminded to Harry, as news that Sirius Black has escaped from prison and is seeking out Harry. Harry and his close friends set out of an adventure to find the truth and lies of his past, only to uncover more treachery, lies, and deception. These chosen heroes often follow a  ¡Ã‚ §collective unconscious ¡Ã‚ ¨ [1], meaning that patterns emerge in all  ¡Ã‚ §good versus bad ¡Ã‚ ¨ scenarios that are generally alike. There is the hero ¡Ã‚ ¦s beginning, where a character is destined to do great things but is constantly in a struggle for power, the call to adventure, where heroes become very important is given a chance to prove himself, and the reward, when a character successfully completes his quest, there is some form of gratification and celebration [2]. Regardless of overwhelming odds to defeat evil, the forces of good call for reprisal, uniting their forces to defeat the enemy.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   In hero ¡Ã‚ ¦s beginning, the characters are introduced as very important and are going to serve a purpose, greater than him self which indefinitely will lead to the next stage of a hero ¡Ã‚ ¦s recognized stature. Although it may not be evident at a specific time, ... ...d ensure peace for the future. Their goals were separate, but the reward of pride, respect and honor are generally the same among heroes.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The heroes share very many qualities, but it is their differences that set them aside from each other. Harry Potter and Frodo Baggins would be considerable adversaries consider how hard they tried to achieve their goal. Not once did they stop because they were scared, not once did they turn around because they were tired, not once did they doubt the people that mattered to them. Frodo and Harry may be some different time periods, even in their fictionist world, and even the novels were written in different generations, but the idea of good triumphing over evil rules.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  So you are still asking yourself,  ¡Ã‚ §What makes a hero? ¡Ã‚ ¨ The general answer that can be given is based around the principals that good is fighting to eliminate the ghastly. In both of the novels, not only are the heroes the heroes, but the people that do not get the gratification. The people that help out the main characters are just as important than people like Harry Potter and Frodo Baggins, but the elimination of evil is a reward that can be justified by anyone.
